The University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and the Institute of American Cultures (IAC) seeks a dynamic and respected scholar to provide intellectual research and programmatic leadership for Chicano Studies Research Center (CSRC) and invites applications for the position of Director of the Chicano Studies Research Center. Qualifications for success include an outstanding scholarly research and publication record; experience developing interdisciplinary research programs and community partnership in Chicano/Latino Studies; commitment to social justice; ability to administer budgetary and personnel processes; and proven effective experience in fundraising, including engaging in development activities as well as obtaining and managing extramural grants and/or contracts, gifts and donations, and endowment funds.

The CSRC is an established leader in the development of scholarly research on the Chicano-Latino population. The CSRC is one of four ethnic studies research centers established at UCLA in 1969 that are now part of the Institute of American Cultures (IAC), which reports to the Office of the Chancellor at UCLA. The CSRC is also a founding member of the nationwide Inter-University Program for Latino Research (IUPLR, est. 1983). The CSRC’s research mission is supported by five distinct components: a library with the largest archival and digital collections in its field, an award-winning academic press, collaborative and interdisciplinary research projects, public programs and community-based partnerships, and a competitive grant and fellowship program.

Successful candidate will have the ability to work effectively with CSRC staff members, the CSRC Faculty Advisory Committee, campus leadership and community stakeholders to develop research priorities. This individual needs to maximize external visibility of CSRC through building bridges between UCLA and Chicano/Latino communities and strengthening intercampus collaboration, in relation to research and community partnerships. This is a tenured faculty appointment in the appropriate department or school with the expectation at the associate or full professor rank. Ph.D. or equivalent is required by date of hire.
