The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA has an immediate opening for a Project Scientist with expertise in immunology and immuno-oncology. The Project Scientist will be responsible for implementing, executing and managing translational research projects that fit in the general strategic objectives of the department. The successful candidate will: participate in project design and management; develop and validate new assays, protocols and platforms; develop SOPs, assay specifications and quality measures; train employees; promote the use of validated assays within and beyond the UCLA community; compile and present experimental results to the project team; prepare publications and present experimental results at scientific meetings. He/she should be able to work collaboratively with other areas as part of an interdepartmental project team.

The applicant must have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in immunology and must have 4+ years of demonstrated independent research and hands-on experience with flow cytometry, multi-parameter assessment of soluble analytes, and cellular immune function assays. Experience in assay development and high-throughput data analysis and statistics, technical competence in the areas of microscopy and molecular biology, and an interest in clinical translation of developed assays are highly desired. The candidate must have excellent communication, interpersonal skills and organizational skills.
