Position description

The Division of Dermatology at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA is currently recruiting for a full-time Postdoctoral Scholar to join Dr. Willy Hugo's laboratory focused on the evolution of drug resistance in cancer under the selective pressure of targeted therapy and/or immunotherapy.

The candidate is expected to have: first-author publication in peer-reviewed journals in any area of the biomedical sciences , extensive experience in wet lab molecular and cell biology work (experience in organoid or other co-culture models will be a strong plus), and less than 6 months of cumulative postdoctoral research experience, including postdoctoral service at other institutions.

Areas of research include the delineation of how the tumor and stroma/immune cell populations adapt and interact during the development of drug resistance. The Hugo lab will be utilizing novel single cell analytics including single cell omics, novel multiplex immunofluorescence, and high complexity co-culture models to model the immune vs. tumor interaction in patient tumors. Additionally, the Hugo lab works closely with multiple collaborators to use in vivo models of cancer and patient-derived tumor xenografts to validate our hypotheses. A Ph.D is required.
