Lecturer in Political Theory

The Department of Political Science at UCLA seeks applications for lecturer positions during the 2020-2021 academic year.

We are looking for candidates to fill 2-4 positions teaching advanced undergraduate topics in political theory that are part of our core curriculum, most likely “111C Late Modern Political Theory,” “114A American Political Thought 1, 1620 to 1865,” “114B American Political Thought 2, 1865 to present” and/or “116B – Continental Political Thought.”

Responsibilities will include lecturing, conducting regularly scheduled office hours, and the writing and grading of exams. Ability to work cooperatively with other faculty and Department staff is essential.

Qualified candidates (a) must have a Ph.D. in political science, or a Ph.D. Certificate of Completion by June 12, 2020, and (b) must be actively engaged in political science research reflecting current disciplinary standards.

Candidates should provide (1) a CV, (2) a 1 page teaching statement, (3) teaching evaluations, (4) sample course syllabi and (5) a list of courses they can teach with an emphasis on those relevant to this ad (see courses in the 100-184 range in our course catalog:
