Position description

The Division of Digestive Diseases, Department of Medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, invites applicants for a Postdoctoral Scholar position in the Stress-Neurogastroenterology laboratory. The Postdoctoral Scholar will participate in projects involving anatomical profiling of neuronal circuits in the gut-bladder-autonomic nervous system, using tracing, immunohistochemistry, multiple labeling, tissue clearing and 3D neuronal tracing, image reconstruction and molecular biology assays.

A PhD, DVM and/or MD is required, along with some experience and interest in neuroanatomical and immunohistochemical studies and in microscopy and imaging processing. Knowledge and experiences are preferred in the following: enteric nervous, vagal, spinal autonomic and sensory systems, confocal and multiple photons microscopy, and image processing. The candidate must be enthusiastic, have strong written and oral communication skills, be highly motivated, intellectually creative, able to work independently, and function well as part of a team. The candidate will be expected to contribute to ongoing projects and expand novel independent research projects in a collaborative research environment. The position will offer an excellent opportunity to advance in career path and to obtain training in new methodological approaches.
