The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine offers a one-year post-sophomore/junior fellowship in Pathology to medical students. Students must be currently enrolled in an accredited U.S. medical school, completing their second or third year in a 4-year medical school.
After an orientation period, fellows are given patient care responsibilities similar to first-year residents with appropriate supervision. Fellows rotate on various anatomic and clinical pathology services including surgical pathology, transfusion medicine, hematopathology, and autopsy, amongst others, at the UCLA Medical Center. Depending on interest and feasibility, opportunities exist for clinical/translational research and clinical electives.
