Position description

The Laboratory for Image Guided Immunotherapy (LIGIT) at UCLA strives to accelerate drug discovery and increase understanding of disease biology by leveraging the quantitative, longitudinal, and non-destructive properties of molecular imaging. The research program has 3 central themes (1) developing diagnostic imaging agents to facilitate in vivo assessment of the dynamic interplay between immune cell subtypes (2) developing novel targeted radio-immunotherapeutics that convert immunologically “cold” lesions to “hot” lesions and (3) employing imaging reporter genes to access localization, persistence, and efficacy of cell and gene therapies.

To help achieve our goals we seek a highly motivated, self-directed postdoctoral research associate with a strong background in immunology or immuno-oncology to work under the supervision of Dr. Oluwatayo (Tayo) Ikotun, Ph.D. Postdoctoral scientists eager to employ translational molecular imaging to interrogate macrophage and T-lymphocyte response to disease progression and therapeutic intervention are encouraged to apply.

The preferred candidate will possess:
• Expertise in immunology, tumor biology, or oncology is highly desirable
• Experience with high dimension flow cytometry, sorting, ELISA, cell-based assays
• Skilled with multiplex immunohistochemistry
• Experience with lymphocyte functional assays and understanding of immunogenicity in experimental models
• Hands-on experience working with animal disease models of cancer and inflammation
• Understanding of biologics modalities (e.g. hybridoma, bispecifics, cell engineering) is highly desirable
• An entrepreneurial enthusiasm for converting exciting ideas to hypothesis driven scientific experiments
• Documented ability to design and execute experiments, critically interpret experimental results, and clearly articulate findings and present to a mixed audience of subject-matter experts
• An ability to thrive in an intense and evolving work environment
• A willingness and capacity to participate in preparation of grants and manuscripts
• Excellent communication skills with ability to work independently and as part of a team

Basic Qualifications:
Ph.D. in immunology, cell biology, molecular biology, biological chemistry or equivalent.

Candidates with extensive experience with immunology/immuno-oncology but limited to no experience in molecular imaging are encouraged to apply. Applicants that have already served 3 years as a Postdoctoral Researcher are not eligible to apply.

Please submit your curriculum vitae with the contact information of 3-4 references and a cover letter.
