Position description

The lab of Dr. Sandra Orsulic at the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine seeks a Post Doctoral Scholar for a multiple year research appointment. The grant funded position will work under Dr. Orsulic’s direction in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Division of Gynecologic Oncology.

Dr. Orsulic’s research focuses on the development of mouse models in which ovarian cancer can be induced and studied during its early stages of growth and metastatic progression. Her laboratory has generated multiple syngeneic mouse ovarian cancer cell lines with defined genetic alterations that recapitulate the development and pathophysiological manifestations of human ovarian cancer as well as the complexity of cancer-stroma interactions. These models are used to determine the functional contributions of individual molecular pathways to cell transformation, immune response to cancer progression, recruitment of cancer-associated fibroblasts, and development of therapy resistance.

Applicants must possess a Ph.D., M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. degree. Qualified applicants can include graduate students in their last year of obtaining a Ph.D. who have successfully defended their thesis or applicants who are in the first year of a postdoctoral appointment. Candidates are expected to have a strong background in molecular and cell biology and have experience with -omics analyses and small animal surgical procedures. The ideal candidate should be highly motivated and have publications in peer-reviewed journals.

Salary is commensurate with experience and skill level.

Applicants must provide the following documents to apply:

• Current curriculum vitae
• Letter of interest
• Statement on contributions to equity, diversity and inclusion
• Reprints of 3 peer-reviewed publications in which the applicant is a co-author

Following interviews, the final candidate may be asked to provide references. Interested candidates can apply through the UC Recruit system located at: https://recruit.apo.ucla.edu/JPF05905
