Position description

The UCLA Music Department invites applications for a part-time lecturer position for the Music Education Program for the Spring quarter of the 2020-21 academic year to teach in the area of instrument methods for individuals preparing to become ensemble instructors. Salary commensurate with applicant qualifications and experience; percentage of appointment commensurate with teaching load.

The course covers basic philosophical considerations of music instruction in schools, strategies for delivering instrumental musical instruction, the selection of music literature, techniques for teaching and rehearsing ensembles, curriculum, and lesson plan development, and provides the understandings necessary to engage in reflective, critical, action-oriented and socially responsive educational research and professional teaching practices.

Applicants should have successful teaching experience and a post-baccalaureate degree is required.
