Lecturer in Digital Humanities for AY 2021-2022

Position description

The Digital Humanities Program at UCLA seeks applications for a 50% lecturer position for the 2021-2022 academic year. The lecturer is responsible for teaching 4 courses per year on a range of topics addressing methods and technologies in the Digital Humanities. These classes will be developed for both undergraduate and graduate students and should include professional development opportunities for graduate students. Classes may focus on both introductory and advanced DH in areas such as digital mapping, text analysis, data visualization, and modelling; DH methods may include data scraping and data cleaning, critical data analysis, and visualization using Python, R, JavaScript, as well as working with code libraries, APIs, and front-end web development. Classes also involve regularly scheduled office hours to consult with students and offer technical support. Pending approval of funding.

Requirements: Ph.D. in hand, preferably from a field in the Humanities; experience developing and teaching digital humanities courses; technical proficiency in digital humanities methods and tools. Candidates should provide a letter of application, CV, two sample syllabi of digital humanities courses, and names/contact information for two references.
