Position description

Applications are sought for a full-time Assistant Project Scientist position. This position is intended for research on the newly discovered function of histone H3 as a copper reductases enzyme. The applicant will perform primary, laboratory-based research on how the enzymatic activity proceeds in vitro and in vivo, how it may be integrated with the broader metabolic and physiological processes of the cell, and how it may contribute to human disease when altered. The investigation will use model systems such as the budding yeast and mammalian normal and cancer cell lines, and state-of-the-art molecular, cellular, and biochemical approaches including high-throughput techniques.

The qualifications for this position are M.D. and/or Ph.D. degree in molecular and cellular biology, biochemistry, or a closely related field of study, five years of laboratory experience, and proficiency in a basic computer programming language such as R or Python.

Job responsibilities include the design and execution of funded projects, day-to-day tasks related to project management, data analysis, manuscript preparation and submission, and supervising medical/graduate/undergraduate students and junior postdoctoral fellows working in this group.
