Position title: Assistant Professor in Residence

Position description

The Department of Neurosurgery at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA is seeking a qualified individual at the Assistant Professor rank in the In-Residence series to join the UCLA Brain Injury Research Center.
Candidates must have a Ph.D in Neurosciences. We are seeking an individual with a strong background in mitochondrial function after traumatic brain injury. Experience in preclinical models of traumatic brain injury is required. Applicants should have experience in research areas that include but are not exclusive to behavioral outcomes, histological experience, western blotting, RNA sequencing, mitochondrial biogenesis and respiration analyses, and animal surgical skills and how these pertain to sex differences. This position requires a minimum of 4 years’ experience in mitochondrial metabolism analysis.
The incumbent will design studies, prepare manuscripts for publication in scientific journals, and assist with the preparation of grant proposals. Clinical translation is one of our major goals. This position will involve supervising and teaching of trainees including undergraduate, graduate, medical students, as well as post-doctoral fellows. Faculty in the In-Residence Series are also expected to participate in other professional endeavors and in University and public service.
