Position description

The UCLA Department of Music invites applications for a part-time lecturer position in opera/vocal coaching. Salary commensurate with applicant qualifications and experience; percentage of appointment commensurate with studio size.

Responsibilities will include individual and ensemble coaching of graduate and undergraduate students. Candidates should have experience coaching (at minimum) German, Italian, English and French languages and diction, with expertise and knowledge of the operatic repertoire of all eras. Extensive experience in preparing and performing new works is required. Additionally, applicants should have an established regional, national, and/or international reputation as a coach and rehearsal pianist.

The application deadline is August 31, 2021 for Fall quarter, November 30, 2021 for Winter quarter and February 28, 2022 for Spring quarter. The anticipated appointment date of October 1st, 2021 for Fall quarter, January 1, 2022 for Winter quarter and April 1, 2022 for Spring quarter. Applications should include a letter stating interest in the position and a philosophy of teaching, comprehensive resume or curriculum vitae, online video links representing the applicant’s playing, and names and contact information for at least three professional references.

    -Experience coaching German, Italian, and French languages and diction, with expertise and knowledge of the operatic repertoire of all eras.

    -Extensive experience in preparing and performing new works is required.
