Professor of Theater - Acting (Assistant Rank)

UCLA seeks applicants for a full-time tenure-track position as an Assistant Professor of Theater, effective July 1, 2022. The successful candidate will be a highly skilled collaborator, who embraces a philosophy of integrated curriculum.

Responsibilities of the position will include the following:
• Teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels; we are interested in candidates who can teach acting and one or more of the following: voice, directing and/or movement;
• Cultivate and maintain a national and international professional career;
• Recruit promising students;
• Mentor current students in academic and career planning;
• Serve on department and university committees;
• Contribute to department and university initiatives in equity, diversity and inclusion;
• Collaborate on program design and curriculum maintenance.

In addition to the above, the ability to teach in any of the following areas is desirable: African American, Latina/o, Indigenous theater, and/or gender and sexuality in performance.

We seek a colleague prepared for interdisciplinary collaboration among the various areas within the Department of Theater (Acting, Directing, Design, Playwriting, and Theater and Performance Studies); in partnership with the Department of Film, Television and Digital Media; and across the University and professional schools.

Terminal degree in hand at time of appointment and/or 4 years professional experience.
