Position description
The Department of Anesthesiology & Perioperative Medicine, in tandem with the Division of Molecular Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Position. The laboratory is located within CHS under the direction of Dr. Hua Linda Cai, MD, PhD addressing topics related to cardiovascular, respiratory and metabolic research.
Requirements:
Appointee must possess a recent doctorate degree, in the field of biomedical sciences or related disciplines.
Previous training and experiences in the following research areas are preferred: 1) mechanistic studies of hypertension and pulmonary hypertension, aortic aneurysms and aortic dissections, diabetic vascular complications, dyslipidemia and atherosclerosis; 2) mechanistic studies of metabolic pathways regulating adipogenesis, mitochondrial function, and skeletal muscle function; mechanistic studies of obesity and metabolic syndrome; 3) mechanistic studies of ion channel regulations and other pathways of arrhymogenesis using animal models and in vitro techniques, especially relevant to studies of atrial fibrillation; 4) mechanistic studies of cardiac injury and remodeling (myocardial infarction and heart failure) in response to various insults including ischemia reperfusion injury (I/R) and pressure overload; proficiency in ex vivo and in vivo I/R and Transverse Aortic Constriction (TAC) models in mice; 5) mechanistic studies of angiogenesis and wound healing (in diabetic environment and in general); 6) mechanistic studies of sepsis and related organ injuries including that of heart and lung; 7) mechanistic studies of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and COVID-19; 8) mechanistic studies of mechano-transduction in the cardiovascular and respiratory systems.
Qualifications
Appointee must possess a recent doctorate degree, in the field of biomedical sciences or related disciplines.
Previous training and experience in cardiovascular, respiratory and metabolic research.
