The UCLA Division of General Internal Medicine and Health Services Research (GIM & HSR) in the Department of Medicine and the UCLA Clinical and Translational Science Institute’s Community Engagement and Research Program (CERP) invite applications for an Adjunct faculty position at the Assistant or Associate rank. The Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI) is a partnership of UCLA, the Burns and Allen Research Institute at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Charles Drew University of Medicine and Science, and Los Angeles Biomedical Institute at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center.
Duties include working closely with faculty and community partners across the CTSI, collaborating on community-engaged projects, and working closely with biomedical collaborators in outreach, project design, presentations, assisting with grant writing, teaching community engaged methods to undergraduate and graduate students, clinical fellows, and junior faculty, and presenting study results in scientific manuscripts and lay publications. Effective collaboration with academic and community stakeholders is of major importance. Emphasis will be placed on applicants with a track record of collaboration. Candidate is eligible to teach up to one class per year (undergraduate or graduate-level).
The position requires a highly organized, technologically-savvy, detail-oriented person to lead and manage projects identified by the CERP leadership. In addition to project management, the position will be the direct supervisor for the administrative support team, which includes hiring, training, work review, work assignment, performance reviews and when necessary, disciplinary actions. The position will oversee administrative staff and students in support of CERP day-to-day operations, administration of the CERP community and faculty meetings, and special projects as assigned. The position requires institutional knowledge needed to develop and accomplish competing and often time-sensitive action items. This position also requires administrative experience in multiple areas, including assembling grant proposals, assisting in renewal preparation, and coordination of multiple grant activities.
Candidate must have a Ph.D. or Sc.D. in Public Health or a related field. Must have at least 5 years of post-graduate experience in community-engaged research, and experience with grant preparation, collaboration on data analysis, and publication of medical research articles.
