Position description

The Division of Hematology-Oncology in the Department of Medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA is seeking applicants for a Project Scientist position at the Assistant, Associate, or full rank. This individual will work under Dr. Scott Kitchen where his lab focuses on studying the mechanisms of how viral infections and tumor microenvironment limit the immune system’s ability to clear the virus or cancer and develop therapeutic strategies to overcome these limitations. The candidate will focus on utilizing hematopoietic stem cell-based gene therapy approaches to enhance the immune response against HIV and cancer using humanized mouse models. The candidate will be expected to have demonstrated prior experience in this field of research, specifically in molecular techniques, gene therapy, immunology, humanized mouse models, and translational science. In addition, candidate will be expected to contribute to mentoring and training of students, managing/collaborate in multiple research projects, and contribute to the preparation of research grants and publications. A Ph.D., M.D, or M.D/Ph.D. is required.
