Position description

The Department of Sociology at UCLA invites applications for part-time lecturers to teach during the 2021-2022 academic year. Part-time positions may be available for the following courses:

SOC 1: Introductory Sociology
SOC 101: Development of Soc Theory
SOC 102: Contemporary Soc Theory
SOC 113: Stat Methods Soc Research
Soc 132: Social Psychology: Sociological Approaches
SOC 134: Culture & Personality
SOC 145: Soc of Deviant Behavior
SOC 147A: Sociology of Crime
SOC 156: Race & Ethnicity
SOC 158: Urban Sociology
SOC 171: Occupations and Professions
SOC 180A: Politics of Reproduction
SOC M174: Sociology of the Family
SOC M175: Sociology of Education
SOC M176: Sociology of Mass Communication

Submitted applications will be kept on file. A PhD in sociology or another social science, excellent teaching, communication and interpersonal skills are required. Please submit letter of application, CV, syllabi in a related area, 2 letters of recommendation, statement of teaching philosophy, and statement of Contributions to Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion by going to UC Recruit at https://recruit.apo.ucla.edu/JPF06804 . The application period will run August 16, 2021 - June 30, 2022. For primary consideration, applications must be submitted by September 3, 2021. Applications will continue to be accepted, but those received after the initial review date will only be considered if a position has not yet been filled.

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

Ph.D in Sociology or closely related field by date of hire.
