Pearl Quijada’s lab at the University of California, Los Angeles in the Department of Integrative Biology and Physiology is seeking a creative, highly motivated, and team-oriented Postdoctoral Scientist to engage in cutting-edge cardiovascular research.
Successful candidates will work with a research team on the regulation of cardiac patterning by the epicardium. A major focus of the lab is to determine the role of the epicardium in both cardiac developmental and injury-induced remodeling processes. A postdoctoral position requires a PhD or MD/PhD in the area Biological Sciences or equivalent. Candidate should have previous expertise and/or interest in at least 2 of the following: management and creation of transgenic mouse models, molecular biology, mammalian primary cell culture, flow cytometry/FACS, microscopy, high-throughput sequencing technologies, and/or bioinformatics with a focus on identifying novel signaling mechanisms to mitigate injury or disease. Expertise in cardiovascular development, physiology and/or pathophysiology are desired. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and writing skills are essential. Ideal candidates should be scientifically rigorous, collaborative, and eager to learn about new fields and techniques. Postdoctoral candidates will be responsible for designing experiments, collection and organizing of data, writing manuscript and grants, and intramural/extramural presentation of scientific work.
