The Department of Integrative Biology and Physiology at the University of California, Los Angeles is seeking an Assistant Project Scientist position at 100% percent time.
Qualifications
PhD in Bioengineering, experience in multi-photon imaging of genetically encoded reporters, expertise with Matlab object-oriented programming for instrument control and analysis, experience with computer-controlled 3D printing, experience with Drosophila genetics.
Nature of research
The research focuses on understanding the function of neural circuitry for multisensory control of distance navigation.
Job responsibilities
Lifting and reaching onto high lab shelving, develop and execute neurogenetics in Drosophila, in-vivo two-photon imaging from fluorescent calcium reporters, microdissection, engineering apparatus using 3D printing, circuit board electronic engineering, immunohistochemistry, design and execution of virtual reality visual flight control, maintenance of chemical inventory, instruction of undergraduates, graduate students, and postdocs on all above approaches.
