Position description

The UCLA Department of Ethnomusicology invites applications for a part-time lecturer position in Musical Cultures of the World: Europe and Americas for Spring quarter of the 2021-22 academic year. Salary commensurate with applicant qualifications and experience; percentage of appointment commensurate with teaching load.

Applicants should have an established regional, national, and/or international reputation as a music educator with expertise and experience in traditional and popular musics from Europe and Americas who are prepared to introduce students to basic ethnomusicological concepts and develop their listening and analytical skills. A post-baccalaureate degree is required.

Applicants should submit the following items: a cover letter stating interest in the position, a comprehensive curriculum vitae, a statement of teaching philosophy, and a statement of contribution to diversity. In addition, please provide names and contact information for at least three professional references. The application deadline is March 15, 2022. Applicants may consider including online video links representing their teaching although doing so is not required.
