Position description

UCLA Lab School, part of the School of Education & Information Studies, is an innovative elementary school committed to research-based education for an ethnically, linguistically, socially, and economically diverse student body of approximately 450 students, ages 4-12. UCLA Lab School serves as a demonstration site for public schools across the county, state, and nation, exemplifying best practices in the field of education, and translating research into practice.

Selected candidates will be invited for an interview, and may be asked to conduct a demonstration lesson. Applications will be accepted until all positions are filled. The Arts Program Coordinator will serve as resource coordinator, leveraging talent and human resources in the arts for a PreK-6 constituency across the University and in the arts community. The Arts Program Coordinator will help
drive projects and achieve milestones for interactive and educational arts experiences including visual and performing arts. The Arts Program Coordinator has a strong foundation in the arts with excellent organizational skills and
interpersonal skills, able to collaborate creatively with school educators, artists in residence, and professors across the school, university and community to facilitate the successful creation of residency programs and partnerships that will serve the students at UCLA Lab School and beyond. They will also support visual arts instruction in the classroom in collaboration with the demonstration teachers and provide consultation for integration of arts in instruction and
programs. The Arts Program Coordinator will also develop, organize, and execute complex projects involving PreK-6 students, teachers, professors, and community members. This position reports directly to the Director of
Curriculum and Instruction.

Essential Functions
• Liaison between Lab School, university, and community
• Leverage resources and partnerships to build robust arts experiences into Lab School which serves as a demonstration site
• Support visual arts instruction in the classroom in collaboration with the demonstration teachers
• Provide consultation for integration of arts instruction and programs
• Collaborate with management and other key partners to drive organizational priorities
• Evaluate and identify challenges and utilize resources to solve problems
• Develop, organize, and execute complex projects involving PreK-6 students, teachers, professors, and community members.
• Facilitate projects
• Collaboration and diplomacy: Build cross-functional relationships prioritizing, and balancing these relationships with the overall vision of the school
• Partner with school leadership team to support and drive organizational strategy and priorities
• Manage information flow in a timely and accurate manner.
• Prepare and format content or presentations for internal and external communication – emails, reports, memos, presentations, letters, and other documents.

Qualifications
B.A or B.S degree (Required)
MFA or Masters in Arts Administration (Preferred)
2 or more years of art education experience (Required)
2 or more years of experience in project management (Required)

Other Qualifications
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Proficient in communication through various social media and video conference platforms
Knowledge of the goals and guiding documents of CA's arts education
Present and work effectively with all levels of leadership and management teams, including influencing stakeholders with conflicting priorities
Excel in research, data collection and organization in order to successfully execute presentations, goals and projects
