Position description

The Molecular Tumor Board (MTB) Manager is a detail-oriented professional with significant experience in precision oncology, clinical trials and molecular profiling. The Manager oversees the operations of the UCLA MTB and acts as the primary liaison between the molecular service and the clinical oncology teams across the UCLA Health System. This is a new program and new role at UCLA, so there is tremendous opportunity for an individual who is comfortable and competent to help develop a new program. The MTB Manager works collaboratively across the system to lead the effort in integrating MTB to oncology care at UCLA. Responsibilities include coordinating and managing the daily functions related to the MTB, coordinating with clinicians and other tumor boards and monitoring cases and tracking outcomes.

Duties and tasks:
• Apply knowledge of precision oncology, clinical trials, molecular tumor profiling and practice operations to develop and maintain standard operating procedures of the MTB
• Attend molecular sign out meetings, work closely with Molecular Service Directors and oncologists to identify interesting cases for MTB, perform literature research and prepare MTB presentations
• Coordinate with other tumor boards across the UCLA campus to identify cases with interesting molecular findings for MTB
• Develop and manage database for tracking MTB cases and outcome measures
• Coordinate and facilitate MTB meetings
• Interpret MTB recommendations and synthesize data into comprehensive report for clinicians
• Work collaboratively with various departments across the system, including IT, physician groups, clinical trials, pathology, genetics and others.
• Assist with manuscript preparation and publications

Required Qualifications:
• MS or PhD in cancer biology, human genetics, genetic counseling, or other related field is required.
• 2+ years’ experience in precision oncology-related work
• Prior leadership role is strongly preferred
• Deep knowledge of precision oncology concepts, tumor molecular profiling and clinical trials
• Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and internet for business use
• Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships across the UCLA Health system
• Ability to adapt to an ever-changing, fast-paced environment
• Knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position
• Compliance with the UCLA Health Standards and is sensitive to the needs of patients, staff, and providers at all times.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

PhD in cancer biology, molecular genetics/genomics, or other related fields is required. Similar degrees can be considered.
2+ years’ experience in precision oncology-related work
Prior leadership role is strongly preferred
Deep knowledge of precision oncology concepts, tumor molecular profiling and clinical trials
Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and internet for business use
Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships across the UCLA Health system
Ability to adapt to an ever-changing, fast-paced environment
Knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position
