Position description

The Department of Geography at UCLA invites applications for a part-time positions as a non-tenure track lecturer. The teaching areas include, but are not limited to biogeography, physical geography, and human-cultural geography. Responsibilities will include teaching, conducting regularly scheduled office hours, writing and grading exams, and supervising readers and teaching assistants.

Lecturer appointments are assigned according to the instructional needs of the Department of Geography and may be established quarter by quarter as dictated by the Strategic plan of the Department Chair. Applicants must demonstrate a record of effective undergraduate teaching. Appointees may be asked to instruct one or more courses. Often late or unexpected instruction openings occur, so successful applicants may be called upon with short notice. Positions will be filled when needed so applicants are encouraged to submit materials as early as possible.

A Ph.D. in Geography or closely related field, and excellent teaching, communication and interpersonal skills are required. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
