Position description

The Department of Neurosurgery at the University of California, Los Angeles is seeking to fill a post-Doctoral fellowship position studying brain tumor immunotherapy immediately. The post-doctoral fellow will perform independent research on the mechanisms by which immunotherapy combinations alter the anti-tumor immune function and gene expression of T lymphocytes within the brain tumor microenvironment. This work will use pre-clinical mouse models and samples from GBM patients treated with immunotherapy. The goals are to identify mechanisms of adaptive resistance that develop and search for optimal combinations to override resistance.

Requirements:
The candidate will have a Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree in Immunology or its equivalent. A background in mouse models of tumor immunology, single cell RNA-seq and clinical immune monitoring is sought, but other backgrounds in bench research in biomedical science may be acceptable.

Duties and Tasks:

• Perform experimental approaches using mouse pre-clinical models of glioblastoma immunotherapy.
• Assess anti-tumor immune function in tumor-bearing mice following immunotherapy.
• Use sophisticated high dimensional technologies (single cell TCR/GEX, CITE-seq, Flow Cytometry) to evaluate T cell and myeloid cell function
• Design, implement, and complete multi-year research strategies.
• Summarize and Present findings for in person or virtual discussions.
• Lead or assist in the development of manuscripts.
• Lead or assist in the development of additional extra-mural funding.
• Complete research as necessary to publish papers

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
• Collaborative, able to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Able to prioritize multiple projects with competing requirements.
• High level of experience in mouse intracranial tumor models
• Experience in single cell RNA-seq and computational analysis.
• Experience in clinical immune monitoring of patients treated with immunotherapy
• Grant and manuscript writing skills.
