Position description

The Department of Pediatrics, David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and UCLA Mattel Children’s Hospital seeks dual-trained (critical care and cardiac intensive care) individuals in the Health Sciences series at the Instructor, Assistant, Associate or Full Professor rank, commensurate with experience, to help manage and expand the pediatric cardiac intensive care unit.

The congenital heart surgery program at UCLA Mattel Children's is poised for an expansion with the recruitment of Dr. Glen Van Arsdell as Chief of Pediatric Cardiac Surgery. Applicants must be board certified/eligible in Pediatric Critical Care plus have additional cardiac intensive care training or be additionally board certified/eligible in Pediatric Cardiology. Duties will include patient care, teaching of fellows and residents, and participation in research or other scholarly endeavors that will lead to academic promotion. Strong leadership skills, administrative experience and teaching experience are a strong plus. Candidates with a commitment to pursue collaborative and/or independent research will be supported as needed in their academic endeavors.

Qualifications: Candidates must hold a M.D. or equivalent degree, be eligible to work in the United States and licensed (or licensable) to practice medicine in California.

Salary Range: The posted UC salary scales [https://www.ucop.edu/academic-personnel-programs/compensation/index.html] set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See Table 5, APU 4.
The salary range for this position is $99,200 - $349,651. This position includes membership in the health sciences compensation plan [https://www.ucop.edu/academic-personnel-programs/_files/apm/apm-670.pdf], which provides for eligibility for additional compensation.
