Position title: Open-rank In-Residence faculty position

Position description

Applications are invited for an open rank In-Residence faculty position in the Department of Biostatistics in the UCLA Jonathan and Karin Fielding School of Public Health (http://www.biostat.ucla.edu). Titles in the In-Residence series confer membership in the UCLA Academic Senate and are assigned to individuals who engage in research and teaching to the same extent as those holding corresponding titles in the Regular Professor series at UCLA. Accordingly, we seek an excellent candidate with a strong track record or evidence of outstanding potential for methodological and collaborative research, obtaining external funding, teaching, and contributing to our commitment to diversity and excellence. Important aspects of this position include collaboration with Veteran Health Administration and Department of Energy; and contribute through teaching and ongoing program development to the new Master of Data Science in Health graduate professional degree program housed within the Fielding School of Public Health. Background and experience in interdisciplinary research involving biobanks, electronic health records, mobile health (mHealth), omics, personalized medicine, cardiometabolic diseases, military veterans and members of their families would be highly desirable and could translate to opportunities for collaboration on numerous funded projects.

The Fielding School of Public Health is located on the main UCLA campus in direct proximity to the other health sciences schools (Medicine, Dentistry, and Nursing), several professional schools, and the College of Letters and Science. The UCLA Department of Biostatistics has a strong history of and commitment to interdisciplinary research and collaboration.

Applicants should submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, three letters of references, a statement of research interests including a summary of previous research work and its significance, a teaching statement and a diversity statement addressing past and or potential contributions to diversity through research, teaching and/or service. Individuals with a history of and a commitment to mentoring students underrepresented and under-served in the sciences, and who demonstrate an interest in campus-wide or departmental programs that provide research and professional development opportunities for a diverse student body are encouraged to apply.
