Position title: Assistant Researcher

Position description

The Department of Earth, Planetary, and Space Sciences at the University of California, Los Angeles, seeks applicants for an Assistant Researcher. The candidate must hold a Ph.D. in physics or related fields.

The person hired will conduct research on Earth’s magnetotail dynamics and/or nonlinear wave-particle interactions. The incumbent shall conduct observational studies of particles and fields (on THEMIS, MMS, Van Allen Probes, or ARTEMIS) to understand the underlying plasma physics involved. Demonstrated experience with spacecraft data analysis and space plasma theory are desired. A Ph.D. in physics or related fields is required. Work is to be carried out in collaboration with Dr. Anton Artemyev, Dr. Xiao-Jia Zhang, Dr. Andrei Runov, and Prof. Vassilis Angelopoulos.
