Salary range: See Table 15 for the salary range for this position. A reasonable estimate for this position is $64,329 -$70,295.

Position description

The Life Sciences Core Education Department at UCLA maintains a pool of applicants for instructional lecturer positions. Percentage of employment will vary according to number of courses taught. Positions may be part-time or limited duration appointments not to exceed one year without a further competitive search. Appointments potentially can be extended following a favorable performance review after first year of lecturing appointment. Applications will be accepted on a continuous basis and pool will remain active for one year. Screening of applications will take place as positions become available and continue until positions are filled.

The Life Sciences Core primary course offerings consist of:
LS 7A – Cell and Molecular Biology
LS 7B – Genetics, Evolution and Ecology
LS 7C – Physiology and Human Biology
LS 30A - Mathematics for Life Scientists
LS 30B - Mathematics for Life Scientists
LS 40 - Statistics for Life Sciences
LS 107 - Genetics

Duties: Teach lecture courses in Biology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Ecology, Evolution, Physiology, Quantitative Biology, and Biostatistic, and other topics as needed; plan and coordinate discussion activities for multiple sections of courses; supervise course teaching assistants; maintain office hours; and attend instructor meetings.

Qualifications: Ph.D. degree in the biological sciences or related discipline; demonstrated experience in undergraduate teaching at the university level. Level of appointment and salary commensurate with qualifications, experience, and duties.
