Position description

The UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music’s Department of Music Industry invites applications for a part-time Lecturer in accounting and finance for Fall and Winter quarters of the 2023-24 academic year. The position will staff a new two-quarter sequence of courses in Finance and Accounting for the Music Industry, designed as an introduction to business principles and practices for first- and second-year Music Industry majors. Salary will be commensurate with applicant’s qualifications and experience.

Applicants should have an understanding of finance and accounting in the entertainment industries, including management of funds, budgeting, financial analysis, fee scales, servicing agreements, royalties, licensing, etc. They should have the ability to communicate financial principles and techniques to music students not specializing in finance, and be ready to work with students possessing differing levels of quantitative skill. Responsibilities will include individual student teaching supervision, and assigned undergraduate courses in the School of Music. Applicants with a graduate degree in Music Business, Finance, Accounting or related fields; or with a relevant professional certification; or with relevant professional experience. Experience in music industry will be preferred.
