A reasonable estimated salary range for this position is $90,000-$140,000 for Assistant rank and $100,000 - $175,000 for Associate rank, inclusive of the salary scale and off-scale salary components.

Position description

Summary of Position

The Department of Education in the School of Education & Information Studies at the University of California, Los Angeles announces an opening for a full-time tenure-track position in Evaluation at the Assistant or early Associate level. We are seeking an evaluation practitioner/scholar with experience designing and conducting program or policy evaluations, teaching undergraduate or graduate-level courses in evaluation, and training and mentoring graduate students in evaluation theory and practice. The ideal candidate has a record of funded evaluation work, expertise in qualitative, quantitative, or mixed methods, and an active research agenda addressing conceptual and methodological issues in evaluation theory and practice–with demonstrated interest in evaluation as a multi-disciplinary field of applied research (e.g. through publications, and membership in professional groups like the American Evaluation Association, or related national or international organizations). We have particular interest in scholars/practitioners with expertise in culturally responsive, or cross-cultural evaluation (in local, national, or international contexts), or whose work bridges robust evaluation designs with theoretical and methodological perspectives that explicitly address issues of fairness and equity in education and other societal systems and structures. The candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate courses, as well as introductory and advanced graduate courses in evaluation, and in his/her areas of methodological expertise.

Responsibilities include:
• Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in evaluation and research methods
• Advising and mentoring graduate students
• Serving and chairing PhD dissertations.
• Developing a funded program of work combining active program evaluations, and research in an area(s) of theoretical or methodological interest.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Earned doctoral degree in Evaluation, Research Methods, or related areas, including disciplines with a specific focus or specialization in program evaluation.

Additional Qualifications:
• Experience participating or leading program evaluation projects in Education broadly defined.
• Evidence of a specific interest in evaluation and methodology as an area of study
• An active research agenda in Education or related fields appropriate for the appointment level or career stage–including record of publications, and/or funding activity
• Demonstrated ability to teach graduate and/or undergraduate courses in evaluation and methods

Preferred Qualifications:
• Demonstrated interest in evaluation theory and other theoretical frameworks as they apply to program/policy evaluation (e.g. culturally responsive, cross-cultural or international, critical or comparative perspectives)
• Expertise and scholarly interest in specific methodologies applied to program/policy evaluation (e.g. qualitative, quantitative, or mixed)
• Ability to collaborate with researchers across disciplines and methodologies
• Evidence of successful teaching at the undergraduate level
• Experience in curriculum development (graduate or undergraduate) around evaluation or methodology
• Interest in teaching courses and mentoring students in the EdD program for education professionals.
