Position description
POSITION DESCRIPTION
UCLA’s Center for Community Engagement seeks a creative and collaborative academic administrator to serve as Associate Director for Strategic Initiatives. Reporting to the Director of the Center for Community Engagement, the Associate Director works strategically to advance community-engaged scholarship, teaching and learning at UCLA. The Associate Director works closely with the Director to guide implementation of strategic priorities for the Center and as articulated in the UCLA Strategic Plan relating to advancing community-engaged research and teaching, collection of data and assessing impact. This individual supports the effort to increase resources for the Center for Community Engagement and community-engaged scholarship and teaching more broadly through grant writing and donor cultivation. This individual also contributes to teaching in the interdisciplinary Community Engagement and Social Change minor.
QUALIFICATIONS
The candidate must have a doctoral degree; demonstrated knowledge of the field of civic/community engagement in higher education; experience working in the field of civic/community engagement in higher education; strong written and oral communication skills; outstanding interpersonal skills to bring together multiple stakeholders to facilitate effective collaboration to advance engaged scholarship, teaching and learning; and demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion. The ideal candidate should have demonstrated evidence of strategic thinking and leadership; teaching and research expertise within community engagement and higher education; experience working within university shared governance to advance engaged scholarship and teaching; and experience in development and/or grant writing.
Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Position salary range is $87,628 to 120,265/year.
This is a full-time (100% time) position, with a projected start date of December 1, 2023.
