Position description

The Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at the University of California, Los Angeles seeks a dynamic and inspirational lecturer for a full-time, non-tenure track, academic-year position. This position is intended as a continuing appointment. Expected qualifications are a broad expertise in animal or plant ecology, evolutionary biology or behavior. Prior experience in teaching and developing curricula is essential, and experience with developing online courses, student-centered classrooms or assessment and evaluation of learning outcomes is desirable. Instructional responsibilities may include a mix of courses in: General Education; a lower-division introductory course for majors; and upper-division courses in Ecology, Evolution or Animal Behavior. The lecturer would be encouraged to develop and teach a course in their area of expertise. There may also be opportunities to participate in the EEB Department’s capstone off-campus field courses in marine or terrestrial biology. Summer research is encouraged and some institutional support may be available. As a campus with a diverse student body, individuals with a history of mentoring under-represented minorities in the sciences are encouraged to discuss their activities in their cover letter.
