The Scandinavian Section at the University of California, Los Angeles, invites applications for a specialist in Swedish language instruction and pedagogy at the rank of lecturer. The successful applicant will teach the first and second year language sequence (3 courses in beginning, 2 in intermediate and 1 in advanced Swedish). The lecturer will also be responsible for coordinating Scandinavian language instruction at UCLA and through a UC-wide distance learning program that allows students at other UC campuses to take courses via real-time video conferencing. We are particularly interested in candidates with a strong background in second language and foreign language pedagogy, as well as a background in applications of technology in instruction. Native or near-native Swedish proficiency is required; in addition fluency in Norwegian or Danish is desired.

The position is a non-tenure track one-year lecturer position at 75% renewable for up to three years. The initial appointment is effective July 1, 2015 until June 30, 2016, with a 6 course teaching load (2 per academic quarter). Salary is commensurate with education and experience. The position is subject to final budgetary approval.
