Position description

The Department of Asian American Studies at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), invites applications for part-time Lecturer positions (Non-Senate) with primary responsibility in teaching interdisciplinary courses in Asian American Studies for the 2017-2018 academic year. Appointments are usually made per course.

Academic appointment dates are as follows:
Fall (October 1-December 31, 2017) [instruction begins September 28, 2017]
Winter (January 1-March 31, 2018)
Spring (April 1-June 30, 2018)
Summer (Session A: June 25-August 3, 2018; Session C: August 6-September 14, 2018)

We are looking for applicants who can teach the following courses:
History of Asian Americans (AAS 10/10W) [Fall & Spring Quarters]
Contemporary Asian American Communities (AAS 20) [Fall Quarter]
Asian American Literature and Culture (AAS 30/30W) [Winter Quarter]
Asian American Creative Writing (AAS 112C) [Winter Quarter]
Asian American Religious History (AAS 118)
Japanese American Experience (AAS 131A), Japanese Americans and Incarceration (AAS 131B) or Japanese American Resettlement (AAS 131C)
Asian American and Pacific Islander Community-Based Learning (AAS 140SL)
Ethnocommunications: Creating Community Media (AAS C142ABC) [Fall, Winter & Spring Quarters]
Ethnic, Cultural, and Gender Issues in America’s Healthcare systems (AAS M161)
Critical Issues in US-China Relations (AAS 171A), US-Japan Relations (AAS 171B), US-Korea Relations (AAS 171C), US-Philippine Relations (AAS M171D), and US-Vietnam Relations (AAS 171E)

Special Courses in Asian American Themes or Populations and Communities (AAS 187B or C): We welcome applicants who can offer special topics courses that complement our curriculum such as critical refugee studies, mixed race, Muslim and South Asian diasporic communities, public health, and social welfare.

Applicants with a Ph.D. are preferred. Applicants who are advanced to Ph.D. candidacy or who have a M.A., M.F.A., or equivalent may be considered (currently enrolled UC students are not considered).
