Position description

UCLA Extension, a global leader in professional and continuing higher education, seeks an innovative and visionary leader to serve as the Program Director (Continuing Educator) of its widely respected Finance, Accounting & Taxation Unit within the department of Business, Management & Legal Programs. Reporting to the Associate Dean of UCLA Online/Director of Business, Management and Legal Programs; the Program Director will be responsible for the administration of self-supporting cost centers that generate several millions annually in fee income revenue, and will manage a staff of career professionals. The portfolio of programs and courses includes a comprehensive range of accounting courses (some leading to the CPA Exam), finance, taxation, internal audit, and related.

As a member of the Department of department of Business, Management and Legal Programs senior management team, the Program Director will keep abreast of changing industry trends and demographics, which will be reflected in innovative continuing education courses and programs in response to the professional needs of a multi-cultural Southern California, national, and international audience.

General duties will include strategic planning; fostering the development of existing and new programs within and outside UCLA Extension; administrative oversight of curriculum development and assessment; staff recruitment and review; oversight of instructor recruitment and review; participating and/or leading institutional endeavors and activities.

MBA or an advanced degree in business/management/marketing fields; CPA designation and/or CFP® certification highly desired. A combination of academic expertise and administrative management skills is highly preferred.

Candidate must be committed to the highest level of academic standards and integrity and be familiar with educational methods and technologies in traditional classroom settings and online delivery. Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills are required.

Serving a vital community outreach and engagement role for the UCLA campus, UCLA Extension is the largest organization of its type in California and is considered to be one of the top 10 programs in the United States. UCLA Extension serves 50,000 students per year with over 5000 classes and over 2000 instructors. UCLA Extension is entirely self-supporting, receiving no state or campus funding for its operations. Thus, the incoming director must have demonstrated success in budget management and fiscal responsibility.

Salary Range: $80,000 - $100,000 annually depending on experience and qualifications. The position is a renewable two year academic appointment.
