Tenure track Assistant Professor position in population genetics
The Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology (EEB) at UCLA is searching for a tenure track Assistant Professor in population genetics. We seek candidates who use computational, theoretical, and/or experimental approaches to study genetic variation in any biological system. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a rigorous, externally funded research program and teach at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
EEB is a vibrant and expanding department with strengths in evolutionary biology and the genomics of non-model organisms. The department is part of a dynamic interdepartmental research community in computational biology, bioinformatics, genomics, and human genetics across the greater UCLA campus. The successful candidate would be a part of this rich network, with many opportunities to collaborate between disciplines and departments. Necessary qualifications include candidates must have a Ph.D or equivalent degree and sustained research productivity as evidenced through journal publications and conference presentations.

The Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology has 34 faculty, a large graduate program, over 1800 undergraduates across three majors (Biology; Ecology, Behavior, and Evolution; Marine Biology), and two minors (Conservation Biology and Evolutionary Medicine). The department has close ties with the Institute of the Environment and Sustainability, and departments across the College as well as the David Geffen School of Medicine, and the School of Public Health. EEB is associated with the UCLA La Kretz Center for California Conservation Sciences, the Stunt Ranch UC Reserve, the Mildred E. Mathias Botanical Garden, the Donald E. Dickey Collection of Birds and Mammals, the Center for Education and Innovation and Learning in the Sciences, and the Institute for Quantitative and Computational Biosciences.
