The Department of Microbiology, Immunology and Molecular Genetics (MIMG) seeks qualified applicants for a full time tenure-track faculty position at the ASSISTANT PROFESSOR level. MIMG is an education and basic science research department. MIMG is based in the University of California, Los Angeles in Westwood, CA, and is fully integrated into both the College of Letters and Sciences and the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. We are seeking an exceptional individual with a high potential for obtaining extramural funding in the areas of bacteriology, bacterial genetics, bacterial pathogenesis, host-bacterial interactions or microbiome research . A strong computational component to the research program is also welcome. Successful candidates will be expected to interact and collaborate with investigators in our institutional research focus areas including immunology, virology, parasitology and molecular genetics. Individuals with a history of mentoring individuals from underrepresented groups in the sciences are encourage to include details in the cover letter.
The primary duties of the successful candidate will be to:
• Develop or maintain an extramurally funded research program
• Participate in teaching undergraduate, graduate and/or medical students
• Participate in service activities of the campus (e.g. service on committees)
Qualifications: Successful candidates should have a PhD, MD or MD/PhD degree, and at least three years postdoctoral training with a strong track record of publications. Evidence of ability to obtain research funding is strongly recommended.
The successful applicant will hold a full-time academic appointment in the Department of Microbiology, Immunology and Molecular Genetics at the Assistant Professor level.
