Position description

A postdoctoral fellow position is available in the Laboratory of Dr. Patrick Allard, in the Division of Life Sciences at UCLA. The overarching theme of the lab is to better understand the pathways that direct germline maintenance and how those could be perturbed by environmental stresses. Current projects focus on the mechanistic dissection of transgenerational epigenetic inheritance using a variety of model systems including the nematode C. elegans, and ESCs-derived mammalian Primordial Germ Cells. We are investigating how time and dose-specific perturbations of the epigenome at the early stages of germline development may alter the differentiation of these cells at later stages of development. In parallel, we are also investigating new mechanisms of inheritance and developing techniques in order to identify them.

The position will require an independent, motivated and highly creative and resourceful individual.

The start date for the position is Spring of 2018. A competitive salary and benefits package will be provided. UCLA offers a highly collaborative, stimulating, first-class research environment with access to 92 distinct core facilities. The laboratory is supported by multiple NIH grants, a Burroughs Wellcome Innovations in Regulatory Science Award, and a John Templeton Foundation grant.

Qualifications:
The candidate must have a Ph.D. or an M.D./Ph.D. or equivalent training in hand at the start of appointment. The position seeks applicants with a strong background in one or more relevant areas including epigenetics, chromatin biology, computational biology, stem cells (ES cell, iPS cell), or experience with C. elegans.

Applying for the position:
