The Crump Institute for Molecular Imaging in the Department of Molecular and Medical Pharmacology at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) is currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated scientist ready to function in a fast-paced and collaborative environment. The Crump Institute provides a unique environment containing integrated technologies that are ideal for innovative problem solving among a variety of scientific disciplines. Applicants should have exceptional communication skills coupled with a strong publication record. Previous experience in setting up and analyzing animal models is highly desirable. Knowledge of PET molecular imaging is preferred.
The potential candidate for this opportunity will be involved in collaborative research to study the biology, biochemistry, and potential uses of small-molecule tracers for positron emission tomography (PET). The goal of this lab is to identify, develop, and study new PET imaging tracers.
Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Chemical Biology, or a related field is required with a strong publication record in peer reviewed journals
A superior academic performance and publication record
Sound knowledge of standard techniques in biochemistry and molecular biology, including molecular cloning, immunoblotting, immunohistochemistry, and cell culture.
Must be able to prioritize work, multi-task and be very well organized.
Effective problem solving skills and the ability to be self-directed
Must have demonstrated awareness of safety practices required for working with biohazards and radiation
Excellent communication skills (oral and written) with strong work ethics
Highly motivated and demonstrates the ability to work efficiently and productively in a dynamic team environment with other scientific disciplines.
Experience in setting up and analyzing animal models of disease is highly desirable
Experience with PET molecular imaging is preferred but training will be provided to a well-qualified scientist
