LIFE SCIENCE 192A, Introduction to Collaborative Learning Theory and Practice

Primary role of position:
Provide instruction in LS192A, Introduction to Collaborative Learning Theory and Practice.

Duties include the following:
• Lecture 1 hour
• Hold office hours
• Prepare and submit student grades
• Develop, evaluate, and improve instructional materials and methods.

Course Outline:
Training seminar for undergraduate students who are selected for the learning assistants (LA) program. Exploration of current topics in pedagogy and education research focused on methods of learning and their practical application in small group settings. Students practice communication skills with frequent assessment of and feedback on progress.

Qualifications include a Ph.D. degree in a science discipline. Candidate must have experience in undergraduate teaching at a university level and demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills. Preferably some knowledge of pedagogy as related to college instruction and preferably some experience working with undergraduate students to facilitate active and collaborative learning.

Salary dependent upon qualifications.
