Position description

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA has an immediate opening for an Assistant Project Scientist with expertise in studies on T cell development and the thymic microenvironment. The candidate will primarily be responsible for designing, managing and executing experiments related to research projects involving the study of factors promoting thymus regeneration and thymopoiesis. The duties of the Assistant Project Scientist, will include: taking part in project design and management; development and validation of assays and protocols that benefit his/her project as well as other research objectives in the lab; training employees and students joining the lab to perform research on both human and mouse thymus biology; promotion of the use of validated assays within and beyond the UCLA research community; compilation and presentation of experimental results to the project team and the department; preparation of publications and presentation of experimental results at scientific meetings. He/She should be able to work collaboratively with other research teams as part of an interdepartmental project collaboration.

The applicant must have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Biomedical Research and must have five years of experience in the field of T cell development and thymopoiesis. The candidate must have excellent communication, interpersonal skills and organizational skills.
