Faculty pathologist position
The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at UCLA is searching for an outstanding MD to serve as the Fellowship Director for Cytopathology and as a member of the Head and Neck Pathology Service. The candidate could also serve as the Service Chief for Head and Neck Pathology. AP or AP/CP board certification is essential. The appointment would be at the level of Associate or Full Professor and substantial experience as a cytopathologist and head and neck subspecialty pathologist is desired. Involvement in residency/fellowship training and education and a successful record of productive research collaborations or independent research activities is critical. The ability to participate in other service areas within the Department is a plus.

The candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Cytopathology Fellowship program and, including, all clinical operations related to the Head and Neck Pathology service. As Cytopathology Fellowship Director, the candidate would be expected to meet all Departmental and School of Medicine requirements for ACGME Fellowship Directors and to meet or exceed all training requirements set by ACGME, Cytopathology National organizations, the Department and the School of Medicine. As Service Chief for the Head and Neck Pathology service, this would include maintaining collaborative relationships with clinicians, monitoring quality and turn-around time, ensuring appropriate Pathology presence at tumor boards, creating the service sign out schedule, instituting research projects that involve faculty and residents and establishing criteria to ensure appropriate resident education. The candidate will share responsibility for training residents and fellows. Candidates will be expected to contribute creatively to research and scholarly projects and the ideal candidate will be able to mentor junior faculty members. UCLA offers a highly collaborative research environment that promotes interactions among faculty in the School of Medicine. Salary will be commensurate with experience.
