The UCLA Department of Psychology seeks applications for a full-time, open rank faculty position with an established program of research in intervention design, development and/or implementation informed by psychological theory and research to improve behavioral, educational, or health outcomes. Scholars who work in any phase of the Translational Psychological Science pipeline will be considered, including (1) basic science to develop applied theories of change, (2) knowledge transfer from basic science to intervention design, (3) testing intervention efficacy and effectiveness, (4) implementation in community settings, (5) “scaling-up” and institutionalization of practices/policies, and (6) translation for application in global communities (Fishbein, 2016). Thus, scholars in developmental/experimental psychopathology, prevention, intervention, and implementation science are encouraged to apply. Although it is not expected that applicants conduct empirical research across the full spectrum of translation, applicants should articulate how their work bridges from basic to applied research to real-world practice.
Potential area affiliations within the Department of Psychology include Clinical, Health, Social, and Developmental. Although area of content expertise is open, we place priority on translational science that aims to: (a) reduce health, mental health, or educational disparities and promote equity, (b) address the needs of underserved, understudied populations toward building a more inclusive psychological science (e.g., racial/ethnic minorities, LGBT communities, older adults), and/or (c) target pressing public health priorities (e.g., suicide, gun violence, discrimination).

A Ph.D. or equivalent in Psychology or a related field is required no later than one year after hire.
