The Department of Mathematics at the University of California, Los Angeles, invites applications for a tenure-track or tenured faculty position. An applicant should make a stable commitment to provide intellectual leadership for UCLA’s evolving program in Financial/Actuarial Mathematics and those components of its Mathematics-Economics program that concern financial mathematics. A suitable candidate need not be a credentialed actuary or a professional in financial mathematics, but a background of research and/or professional activity directly relating to these areas (broadly construed) would be helpful.
Candidates must have a Ph.D. in a relevant field. A competitive candidate should have a transformative research program and show excellence in undergraduate teaching and educational innovation. We give preference to applicants in areas of mathematics with a connection to any of the existing research groups at UCLA. We encourage applications from distinguished candidates at senior levels. Salary is commensurate with education and experience.
