Position description

Under the supervision of the Director of Academic Initiatives within the Division of Undergraduate Education, the Academic Coordinator responsibilities are in two broad areas:

(1) coordination and management of undergraduate academic programs and initiatives within the Center for Community Learning (the Center), including the 195CE internship program and the Community Engagement and Social Change minor; and (2) strategic communication and outreach for all programs across the Undergraduate Education Initiatives (UEI) unit, including the Center, Clusters, Fiat Lux, and the freestanding minors under the Vice Provost of Undergraduate Education.

In this leadership capacity, the Academic Coordinator works with the UEI Directors, each program’s affiliated faculty, and campus partners to develop and sustain programs designed to offer the highest quality of undergraduate education at UCLA. The Academic Coordinator independently manages all aspects of assigned curricular programs through stages of planning, implementation and assessment to ensure they are accomplishing their goals and objectives. This includes building relationships and collaborations with campus partners, as well as planning and overseeing the program budgets for assigned programs. The Academic Coordinator also coordinates and plans events and meetings for UEI’s programs. The Academic Coordinator develops and implements marketing and communication strategies and content for all UEI programs, manages websites, develops and designs materials, and over sees social media activity.

The candidate must have minimum Master’s degree; knowledge of issues in higher education; experience working with academic policy and programs at a large public research university; broad familiarity with existing curriculum, programs and services for UCLA undergraduates; knowledge and skills with strategic marketing and communication; skills in data retrieval and information management; demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to interact effectively with faculty, staff, and students; interpersonal skills to interact effectively with persons of differing social, educational, economic and cultural backgrounds; the ability to be flexible and pay attention to detail while keeping in mind the overall mission and strategic priorities of the Division and UEI.

The Undergraduate Education Initiatives (UEI) unit collaborates with faculty and departments across the campus to design, implement, and promote innovative, interdisciplinary educational programs for all students at UCLA. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Position salary range is $69,917/year to $76,627/year.

Position remains open until filled. This is a full-time (100% time) position, with a projected mid-March start date.
