Position description

Project description
Two postdoctoral positions are open for driven individuals within Dr. Navid Bavi's laboratory at UCLA's Department of Physiology.

In this lab, we explore how different sensory membrane proteins work using advanced methods like single particle cryo-EM and patch-clamp electrophysiology. These proteins include mechanosensitive ion channels, anion transporters, and motor proteins.

While experience in electrophysiology or Cryo-EM is helpful, it's not mandatory. Instead, we're looking for candidates who are creative and eager to learn diverse approaches. Our lab at UCLA is all about fostering individual growth within a collaborative community. We're dedicated to supporting every member's career journey.

Responsibilities:
Depending on their background, each appointee will be actively involved in multiple projects/publications, immersing themselves in one of the leading institutions for biomedical research globally, while learning and exercising skills in biophysics, biochemistry, and structural biology.

The appointees will also have the opportunity to strengthen their leadership and collaboration skills by writing fellowships, assisting with grants and interacting with prospective graduate and undergraduate students.

Qualifications:
1) A recent doctorate degree in the field of biophysics, biochemistry, neuroscience, biomedical sciences, or related disciplines.
2) Ability to work in teams and highly collaborative and inclusive environments, and strong work ethics.

Requirements:
1) An updated CV
