Position description

The Ahmanson Translational Theranostics Division (ATTD) at the UCLA Department of Molecular and Medical Pharmacology is looking for a Project Scientist to work in our Molecular Imaging and Therapy Lab. Our lab’s main focuses are prostate, sarcoma, glioblastoma and pancreatic cancer and related mechanisms of resistance. The Division is headed by Dr. Johannes Czernin, Professor, Molecular and Medical Pharmacology.

Key Responsibilities include:
Projects involve cell and mouse model development, treatment study using Radioligand therapy and combination

Basic education, experience and skills required for consideration:
• Ph.D. degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, biology, animal sciences or related field.
• Record of accomplishment including presentations at scientific conferences and/or peer-reviewed publications.
• Experience in one or more of the following areas is required: molecular and cell biology; preclinical models of cancer.
• Animal handling and standard animal techniques (oral gavage, tail vein, i.p., subcutaneous injections, drug administration, tumor caliper measurements…)
• Experience with sterile cell culture sterile technique.
• Strong organizational abilities. Able to work independently and follow through on assignment. Able to organize and present results in an appropriate format.

Preferred education experience and skills:
• Experience with flow cytometry would be an advantage.
• Experience in basic and advanced molecular biology techniques (PCR, plasmid construction, CRISPR technology).
• Attitude to work with accuracy, precision, and reliability in performing technical and analytical activities.
• Experience with rodent animal handling is a plus.
• In vivo imaging is a plus.

The successful candidate will have access to state-of-the-art laboratory equipment and departmental core facilities for molecular imaging, as well as access to the great UCLA research community.
