Position description

The Department of Biological Chemistry is recruiting for a Project Scientist position in Professor Weizhe Hong’s laboratory.

Job requirements

  1. Participate in the planning of grant goals and gathering pilot data for such proposals
  2. Responsible for writing research papers for publication
  3. Responsible for writing grant proposals for submission to federal agencies
  4. Responsible for progress reporting to granting agencies
  5. Seek funding to establish own independence
  6. Responsible for supervising lab helpers and work-study students
  7. Responsible for providing guidance and advice to other lab trainees when asked

Job responsibilities include supporting the PI by conducting research into the neural mechanisms of social behavior by investigating the role of mPFC in social responses to cold stress. Responsibilities also include assisting the PI in study design, day-to-day tasks related to project management, data analysis, manuscript preparation and submission, and supervising graduate/undergraduate students/junior postdoctoral fellows working in this group.

Qualifications

Ph.D. in biochemistry or a closely related field of study.
