Position description
The Department of Biological Chemistry is recruiting for an Assistant Project Scientist position in Professor Clubb’s laboratory.
The person filling this position will conduct collaborative research on the process of heme acquisition and pilus assembly in bacteria. The qualifications for this position are as follows: Ph.D. in biochemistry, biophysics or molecular biology. Experience related to structural biology and biophysics are highly desirable. This includes expertise in molecular biology, protein chemistry, nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, X-ray crystallography and small angle X-ray scattering.
Job responsibilities include supporting the PI in the design and execution of funded projects, including preparing and solving the structures of assembled pili and hemoprotein complexes. Responsibilities also include assisting the PI in study design, day-to-day tasks related to project management, data analysis, manuscript preparation and submission, and supervising graduate/undergraduate students/junior postdoctoral fellows working in this group.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Biophysics or Molecular Biology
- Experience related to structural biology and biophysics are highly desirable
- Expertise in molecular biology, protein chemistry, nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, X-ray crystallography and small angle X-ray scattering
